About Sez Valentine
Sez Valentine makes drawings, animations, sculptures and films.
looking honestly at the parts of being human that are funny, frightening, embarrassing and true (often all at the same time). Finding beauty and strangeness in unexpected places, Sez invites you to look with both “Urgh” and “Aww” at the world.
She works across stop-motion animation, illustration, sculpture and film, immersing herself in materials and ideas, uncovering their contradictions, and making things that feel viscerally alive.
Alongside her personal practice, Sez has spent many years working with musicians, cultural organisations and creative institutions. Her clients and collaborators include Babylegs Records, the Royal College of Art, Somerset House, Sex Swing Band, Call & Response Studios, Nick Ryan Studio, Larry Achiampong. She’s exhibited in London and the US.
She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. She has degrees in Animation & Illustration, Sculpture and Visual Art. She’s an alumni of School of The Damned.
She has spent a lot of time in art school.
